Don't Miss Out on This Unique Opportunity to Get a Huge Advantage in Your Ministry Career
The landscape of church ministry has changed dramatically in recent decades. At Prairie College we’re excited for the next generation of Kingdom work, and we know that God is going to raise up courageous leaders to advance His purposes on earth.
While North American churches respond to a decline in religious affiliation, a high number of existing church leaders are nearing retirement and many churches face pastoral vacancies.
New leaders are expected to bring creative mindsets to respond to new challenges and opportunities in their congregations and the world beyond.
With the demands and the challenges, it is more important than ever that church leaders bring solid theological foundations along with skills like resiliency, discernment, and disciple making to their roles.
This contest is about encouraging aspiring church/ministry leaders to pursue the vocation that God is calling them to, and supporting churches to promote high potential prospective leaders.
Question & Answers
We welcome applications from believers in all branches of Christianity but we encourage applicants to review Prairie’s Statement of Faith for an understanding of the biblical foundation for our official doctrinal stance.
No, this contest is geared towards new, first-year Ministry students. If you are a Prairie College student already, ensure that you apply for financial aid by the deadline on June 1 to be considered for other financial support opportunities.
It is not necessary that applicants have ministry experience or express a complete theological understanding of vocational ministry, but they are expected to be able to articulate the call on their own life, and their passion for ministry. All applicants require a current ministry leader to nominate them for the contest so it would be expected that the applicant’s passion for ministry has been observed by leaders around them.
Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges affiliated with pastoral and youth ministry programs at Prairie College as well as an alumni guest judge working in pastoral ministry.
Entries will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Quality and completeness of the video/written submission
- A strong nomination by a ministry leader who knows the candidate and is aware of their passion for ministry and the personal call on the candidate’s life.
The contest closes on July 31, 2022. We recommend that you submit your application much earlier, as it can take a couple of weeks to complete the process (which includes collecting transcripts, etc).2
Yes this contest requires a nomination by a church pastor or other ministry leader who has worked with or observed the candidate’s heart and call to ministry. The nomination should give a more fulsome picture of the candidate’s character and unique abilities.
