Ever since he can remember, Richard has wanted to be a pilot. Born in England, Richard accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour at a summer camp during a year his family spent living in Ottawa. The family moved to Canada in 1978 and it was in the summer of 1982 that Richard felt called to become a missionary. Richard met his wife Jennifer while they were both attending Bethany Bible College (Kingswood University) in Sussex, NB. In 1990 he completed his flight training at Trinity Western University.

Richard began his career as a flight instructor and charter pilot at Kingston Flying Club and First Nations Air Service in Ontario.

Richard and Jennifer and their three children served as missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship in Papua New Guinea (1999-2016). Richard began flying the C-206 before transitioning onto the Twin Otter. He held positions in checking and training, as well as serving for periods as Chief Pilot and Crew Training Manager. Moving forward in their ministry Richard and Jennifer are excited to be a part of the aviation program team at Prairie College, training up future generations of missionary and industry pilots.
