We’re Back! A Big Week for Three Hills as Prairie College Celebrates Orientation Week

We’re Back! And What a Wonderful Start to the Year

Last week we welcomed back our student leaders to Prairie campus with specialized training for the leadership roles they have this upcoming year. These roles include small group leaders, teaching assistants, library and athletic assistants. This year 40 returning students will receive a SALT (Student Applied Leadership Training) bursary for their help with many facets of offering the educational experience at Prairie College. Prairie considers this meaningful work, it adds more experience to a student’s CV and helps lower their cost of education.

On August 31st, 115 incoming freshmen were given a warm welcome to the Prairie experience. The rain held off for the morning registration and our welcome lunch outside in the courtyard.

The President and Dean of Education gave Bibles to each freshman student in the afternoon, underlining our commitment to ground our vocational training with rigorous study of the Holy Scriptures (speaking of, have you seen our blog, “Why all 66?”). We celebrated joyfully as our campus was filled with a wonderful group of students and faculty excited for what this new year will bring.

Thursday morning, the whole community gathered for the annual Convocation Chapel. As classes began, we committed ourselves to careful study and intentional friendship as we seek to know and fulfill God’s calling in our lives. Mark Maxwell challenged our community to recognize our thirst and to come to the one who is the living water (Isaiah 55) and to revel in the promise that joy and peace will infuse us as we seek the Lord.

The week was a great launch into our 100th year of Bible college education! We are excited to be part of educating, empowering and preparing future leaders for what God has for each of them.
