Study Online

Two ways to study from where you are right now

We recognize that moving to Three Hills might not be the best option for every student.  If you are already settled into a community, need to stay at your job or you just like where you are but are wanting to pursue education at Prairie, we have a couple of options for you so you can decide which one, or blend of options, fits your needs best.

Online: HyFlex

HyFlex is the best option for students who want to be fully engaged with the Prairie community and are able to fit classes in during the day.

HyFlex students join live on-campus classes via Zoom and are able to fully participate in that class.  HyFlex students also join into Prairie’s community by attending chapels and other school wide events virtually as well as participating in their own online gatherings.

Most courses and educational programs can be completed by HyFlex.  If, on a program page, it indicates that there are on-campus components to the program, then only a portion of the program will be available to be taken online.

For more information on completing a program as a HyFlex student please contact Admissions admissions@prairie.edu

Online: Self-paced

Our online self-paced courses are designed for students who need education that fits into their busy schedule.

Self-paced courses can be started at anytime during their availability periods.  Once a course is begun, you have four months to complete it.  While you have full access to your instructor and support staff during your course, there are no set meetings or deadlines.

Many educational programs can be completed almost entirely through self-paced courses.  In some programs there will be a couple of courses that are best taken via the HyFlex modality due to the style of course.  Students may also choose to complete a portion of an on campus program with online education (OE) courses.

Online: Self-paced policies

Students have 4 months to complete each course in their program as counted from the day they enroll in the course. A 3-credit course will usually take 80-100 hours to complete. This means it will require around 5-7 hours per week for 16 weeks to finish a course.

Students who are taking the majority of their courses self-paced are able to take advantage of specific Online: Self-paced Education bursaries and discounts.

Here are key opportunities you can partner with Prairie

We have launched our Campaign for Greater Impact to provide students with the very best learning opportunities and campus facilities for the decades ahead.

In Phase One of this Campaign, we plan to invest in much-needed campus renewal, including: upgraded Infrastructure, a new Student Residence, Cafeteria, Worship Auditorium, and expanded Aviation Training Centre. A modern campus requires an investment that is bold, and even expensive, but each Campaign Project is strategic, and designed to enhance Prairie’s campus and student life experience.

Expansion of Prairie Aviation Training Centre

This expansion of PATC’s facility is a key project of Prairie’s Campaign for Greater Impact. It will increase the College’s capacity to train a new generation of Christian aviators to serve God in missions, and also address the growing need for trained pilots in the commercial aviation sector.

Scholarships & Education Fund

Invest in the next generation of missional professionals. Each year Prairie College distributes over $500,000 in scholarships and bursaries to students. We are grateful for each gift that reduces the burden of students’ tuition and allows students to fulfill their God-given professions.

Prison Bible Encounter Program

Encourage inmates in five institutions across Alberta to discover or reconnect with Jesus Christ. This fund assists the students studying the Certificate in Bible program with scholarships, resources for classes, and instruction.

General Ministries

Prairie College is educating students to pursue a Biblical foundation for life and career.  Your contribution to this fund assists in minimizing the College’s general operating expenses.
