Friendly Faces of Prairie

Val Leuf

Why do you enjoy working at Prairie?

The best part of my job is the people who stop at my desk. Many times every day I am encouraged by the students, staff, faculty and guests who come by. Often someone will share something with me about their life and I feel so privileged to be able to pray for them throughout the day.

Any specific highlights from your time working here?

There have been so many seemingly small interactions I have had with people from this desk that God has allowed to change me, or where I felt He used me in some way in someone else’s life. To recognize that God has put me in a particular place at a particular time for a particular purpose always stun me, reminding me of His love and attention for me.

Why would you recommend Prairie to someone?

Discipleship is central to shaping the students who come here. While Prairie is a place to get a wonderful education, I believe our students are offered so much more as they experience what it is to both learn from and lead others in a Christ-centered community.

Why do you enjoy working at Prairie?

I enjoy meeting the students. I want to make life on campus as easy as possible for them, especially in those first few weeks away from home. I have amazing co-workers who are inspiring and enjoyable to work with, not to mention that I have the best office on campus! There are windows all around me, the atrium café is just steps away, and my days are filled with variety as I help people and answer the phones.

Any specific highlights from your time working here?

I’ve had many opportunities to lead events and to mentor, pray with, and host students. I’ve shared in their joys as they’ve succeeded and mourned their losses with them as well. Working at the school has given me a very full life and I’m thankful for all the opportunities Prairie has given me.

Why would you recommend Prairie to someone?

Prairie offers relevant programs along with a good Bible-based education. No matter what program you take–PN, PCP, Digital Media, etc. — all have Bible courses as a core part of the curriculum. We care about community and emphasize it. In a culture that seems to be losing its grip on genuine relationships, Prairie works hard to create an environment that builds true friendships. We have the best faculty, awesome staff and fantastic students! Who wouldn’t want to be part of Prairie?
