Kalvin was born and raised in Abbotsford, BC where he enjoyed involvement in his home church and the family’s construction business. While attending Okanagan Bible College he felt the Lord calling him to full-time ministry. Kalvin and his wife, Dorilee, saw aviation as a means of serving God overseas and enrolled in the AAMA program at Prairie in 1995. During their studies they connected with various mission organizations and eventually settled on Mission Aviation Fellowship. Upon graduation Kalvin worked as a flight instructor in Chilliwack, BC and then as an aircraft maintenance apprentice and relief pilot in Peace River, AB. They were accepted with MAF and left for Chad, Africa in 2001. Kalvin served as pilot on the C-206, Caravan and diesel C-182 as well as Flight Operations and Safety Manager for nearly 11 years before returning to Canada. He and his family are excited for the opportunity to be back at Prairie training new pilots for service in Canada and around the world.
