Board of Directors BIO
Dr. John Grassmick
Board Secretary | Texas
I consider it a privilege to serve as the secretary of Prairie’s Board of Directors. Following graduation from Prairie Bible Institute in 1966, I earned a BA from Seattle Pacific College, a ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a PhD in New Testament studies from the University of Glasgow in Scotland. I spent my vocational career of 38 years at Dallas Seminary as Professor of New Testament Studies and also served as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Academic Dean for the last twelve years until retirement in 2012.
My wife, Karen (nee Anderson, 1968 Prairie grad), and I have been blessed with four children and 12 grandchildren. Now retired, we split our time between Austin, TX and Western Michigan (May – September) at the Maranatha Bible and Missionary Conference center near the Lake Michigan shore. Our spiritual journey of faith is a testimony to God’s grace, his faithfulness to us, and the joy we’ve had in serving him and others.
I’m convinced that Canada and the world needs men and women who are vocationally equipped and thoroughly committed Christians with a desire to help meet the spiritual and material needs of the world for the glory of God.
Prairie’s motto, “To know Christ and make him known,” and its values as a Christian college – “Christ-centered, Bible-based, disciple-directed, and mission-mandated” define its vision and mission. The faculty, staff, and students desire to be and invite others to be lovers of God who make disciples, influence culture, and help build his kingdom around the nation and the world. That is why I am happy to serve on the Board.
If you are a Prairie alum or a friend of the college I would encourage you to pray for the school and support it financially. In addition, if you have young adults in your sphere of influence, encourage them to contact Prairie for excellent vocational and ministry training.
