Staff & Faculty BIO
Ed dreamed of playing the steel guitar as a boy, but in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1959, there was no such option. Beginning guitar lessons at eight years old it was not long before he started his own band. Haunting ‘Doo-Wop’ from the 1950’s was a very strong tone draw that eventually was overwhelmed with the charisma of Elvis Presley and the Beatles. Growing up as a teen through the 1960’s & 1970’s Ed was submersed in Blues and Country Rock. In 1986, Ed was born again in a little small town church, where his love of music united with his passion for the Lord.
Scripture Song is probably Ed’s deepest passion and is reflected in the musical styles he offers through his teaching at Prairie. Blue grass, jazz, blues, folk and alternative country are the main genres Ed will fuse into the roots instruments that he offers: banjo, mandolin, upright bass and guitar.
