Alumni Reunion

ONLINE Alumni Reunion: September 24-27, 2020

All alumni are invited!

We welcome all alumni back to Prairie, along with the honoured classes of 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990, and 2000. If we do not have your current contact information, please send it to alumni@prairie.edu or fill out our update form

“We recently attended our 40th class reunion and it was incredible. To reconnect with classmates and laugh, cry, pray, and sing together was truly amazing and encouraging. It was refreshing to hear the president’s progress report, meet former teachers, and tour the campus for an update on changes. What a fantastic weekend it was! Go to your class reunion – you won’t regret it.” – Tim & Blossom Teele

UPDATE:
As we have navigated what this Fall would look like for our college classes, and in light of Alberta Health Services’ recommendations, we now have clarity about how to proceed with the Alumni Reunion. We will be changing from an on-campus, in-person event to an online hybrid version of the Alumni Reunion Weekend.

How will an online reunion work? On Sept 24-27 weekend, we will schedule two-hour blocks for each class to have as “Online Reunion Calls” with Mark Maxwell, Kendi Dyck, and your class to visit and catch up. Then we will have live-streamed or recorded general sessions over the weekend. Please see the updated schedule below.

To receive the “Online Reunion Call” links to participate in your class’s call, please register by clicking on the button below OR fill out the PDF printable registration form and mail it in or scan and email in.  Please complete the whole form by Sept 14th (use to be Sept 1st), whether you are attending the online reunion or not. If you are unable to attend, we want to make sure you receive a copy of the Class Booklet so you too can stay connected with your classmates.

If you miss one of the sessions, we will be sharing links afterwards to the provided emails we have in our database for you and your classmates.

This year’s Reunion project is the L.E. Maxwell “alumni referral” bursary award.  It is an award bursary named after L.E. Maxwell.

As alumni, you can make it easier for a prospective student to enroll at Prairie in a couple of ways.  (1) is to simply give a potential student the “L.E. Maxwell Award” coupon, and on enrollment, Prairie will apply $1000 to their account.  Last year we were able to give out $30,000.

You have an opportunity to bless current students, much like others did to keep costs low when you attended Prairie.

(2) The other opportunity is to help fund this award.  You can sponsor one bursary or perhaps support it monthly with a recurring gift.  These small, consistent gifts go a very long way to encouraging students.

Here are some giving options:

  • $25 – $83(+) per month as a recurring gift
  • $1000 as a 1-time gift
  • Or an amount of your choice 😀 as a 1-time or a recurring gift

All donations are tax-deductible. With your gift, please write a note “Reunion Project 2020” so that it is designated towards this award.

To contribute, you can give using one of the following methods:

  1. Online – go to prairie.edu/donate then click on either of the “Canadian or American Funds” buttons. Fill out the form by selecting “Education” as the fund and writing in the Comments Box “Reunion Project 2020.”  If you are setting up a recurring donation, change the dropdown from “This is a one-time donation” to “Give this amount monthly.” You will be sent a management link by email that will allow you to make changes to your recurring gift whenever you like.
  2. Electronic Funds Transfer (from a bank account).
  • For Canadian donors, please download and print the Automatic Withdrawal Form here and mail it to the address below, or scan and email the signed form to development@prairie.edu.
  • US donors can print the Automatic withdrawal form, or use the online donation form to set up a recurring gift from their bank account. Click the Donate in American funds button and fill in the required information, leaving the payment method as Electronic Check. Change the drop-down from “This is a one-time donation” to “Give this amount monthly.” Click the Make Donation button and your monthly gift is set up. You will be sent a management link by email that will allow you to make changes to your recurring gift whenever you like.
  1. Mail – please make checks payable to Prairie Bible Institute or Prairie College. In the memo line, please write “Reunion Project 2020” to have your gift designated towards this award.
  2. Phone – call 403-443-5511 ext. 282 to donate with your credit card.

You’re making an impact because every amount makes a difference.

UPDATE: We will not be offering any local host home accommodation options for the 2020 Alumni Reunion. All guests will be joining via the Online Reunion.

Local Host Homes: Members of the extended Prairie community have expressed a desire to open their homes to you during this Reunion Weekend, September 24-27, 2020. Please indicate on the online registration form your desire for accommodation and the length of stay, and we are confident that we can arrange lodging for you.

Local Accommodations: Please be aware that all these locations are at least 10 minutes walking distance from campus. Booking early would be a good idea as local accommodations may fill up quickly.

Welcoming classmates of classes of ’69, ’79, and ’89 back to campus for the “Alumni Reunion Weekend” is one of the highlights of our fall term.

Headlining the reunion is our beloved tradition of Re-graduating the 50th-anniversary class where we bestow on them a “Degree of Honor,” recognizing years of faithfulness to Jesus. The pinnacle of this event was the class praying with and for current students. It was heartwarming to see young people linger long after the formalities were over, connecting with alumni and forging new friendships.

Welcoming classmates back to campus for “Alumni Reunion Weekend” is one of the highlights of our fall term. Members from the classes of ’68 and ’78 returned in September to celebrate their 50th and 40th graduation anniversaries. Rekindling friendships, celebrating milestones, and reviving memories were special moments for attendees.

We’re thankful to the class of ’68 for generously supporting a new sign for the “Rick Down Athletic Centre.” Together with friends, they raised $20,694. This was to honour classmate Rick Down who invested much of his life in students at Prairie but was called to his eternal home in 2002.

If you were unable to join us at the Re-Graduation of the 1968 class or would like to share with your family, click here to watch a recording of the program.
