Islamic Studies: In Depth

Learn to work effectively with people of other cultures by developing skills to study, understand and communicate the message of Christ. This program is specifically aimed at Christians who are looking to better understand Islam—beliefs, culture and worldview—in order that they may be equipped for effective ministry among Muslim people groups around the world.

Prairie's Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies (BAIS) includes studies in Bible & Theology, Arts & Sciences and Islamic Studies that will enable you to increase your understanding of God's character, His work, and the diversity of human cultures. Practical ministry experiences gained through outreach and internship programs will help you to grow as a servant of Christ and as a contributing member of the global Church.

Courses will be offered in week-long modules each semester and in summer sessions to allow for part-time community and guest learners. Students enrolled in the one-year Encounter program and two-year Intercultural Studies program can fill elective requirements with Islamic studies courses. An extended internship in the third and fourth years will allow students to put what they have learned into practice as they immerse themselves in Islamic culture.

General 2
I look back on my time at Prairie and think: "If only I went there now; the campus is so alive these days." Then I remember that my Prairie experience, like anything in our faith life, really is as good as you allow it to be. For me, it was a safe haven in uncertain times, a source of refinement and my best friend forever factory. It was the place where Jesus met me often through the professors, my coaches, and the people within the town of Three Hills itself. I love where Prairie has come, and where it is going. As a mother, I am confident that anyone who attends is being well equipped to impact my son's world with the love of Jesus!
