  • BA Christianity & Culture/Drama Minor, Trinity Western University
  • MA of Theological Studies (Apologetics), ACTS Seminary

Van grew up in Edmonton, Calgary and Houston, Texas, and lived in Surrey, BC for many years.

He is happily married to Kristen and has three lovely daughters. He enjoys having his daughters in horseback-riding, ballet, music lessons, and catching the various music and drama presentations available in Three Hills. He is also a semi-professional illusionist.

In Surrey Van served as a youth and young adult’s pastor. He has served almost continually as an elder in his local churches since 1993. Van is currently the elder of children's ministry at Mount Olive Evangelical Free Church, in Three Hills.

He has taught classes in drama, history of theatre, artistic design, digital media, religion and popular entertainment, and on prayer. He has also been a part of various aspects of the community life here at Prairie, including small groups leadership and chapel ministry.

Van is currently the Director of Student Development for all the single men at Prairie which is a pastoral role that is responsible for soul care of this group of students. He works with a team of student leaders to facilitate a small group and discipleship ministry helping to foster a community of spiritual growth.

Van has a passion for people experiencing the freedom that Christ died to bring us and pursues that reality for those he cares for. One way he does that is to co-teach and facilitate our school’s recovery course known as Freedom Session.
